eSafety Policy
The Internet is an excellent resource for accessing information and a vehicle for communication to improve student learning and enhance teaching. All pupil activity, when using the network and Internet in school, must be in support of education and/or research and must be appropriate to the educational objectives of the School. Pupils who access the Internet from the school site are responsible for everything that takes place on their computers and all Internet activity is logged.
The Internet, however, does contain materials, which are inappropriate or unsuitable for general use. The following guidelines and procedures will ensure that the use of the Internet by children is regulated and used appropriately.
Responsible Internet Use
The school is always upgrading its access to the Internet as part of further curriculum development for ICT, plus the need to in enhance children's ICT skills further, and is continuing to provide safe, supervised access to the Internet for all ages 5-11, during curriculum time. Additionally, children from year 3 onwards may be given the opportunity to e-mail other school children within a safe, filtered system.
There have been concerns about children's access to undesirable materials and as a school we are taking positive action to deal with this. The school Internet access is a safe, filtered system that restricts access to unsuitable materials.
However, whilst every effort is made to ensure that the children do not have access to any undesirable materials, neither the school, nor the LEA, can be held responsible for the nature or content of the materials that are accessed through the Internet. Additionally, the school or LEA will not be liable under any circumstances for any damages arising from your child's use of the Internet facilities.
Should you have any further questions about the use of the Internet in school, please do not hesitate to contact the headteacher to discuss your concerns.
